What kind of computer are you using? I found that on my brand new Dell D610 which is a dual core 2.2ghz and 1gb ram, i had a pop every 80 seconds or so when using my firebox. I started to play around with the hardware settings, and finally figured that it was the PCI bridge that was giving me problems. After disabling the on-board soundcard and wifi, my popping spanned out to once every 130 seconds or so. This is using a SIIG pcmcia firewire adapter. This wasn't cutting it, so I have since made my buddies come over to my house and use my 2.4 ghz p4 with 1gb ram desktop. I have a belkin firewire pci firewire adapter installed there and have not had any problems since. I am a Network Administrator in my day job, so I know a thing or two about computer hardware and laptops are notorious for sharing resources across different hardware bridges. I have determined that this is the problem with my laptop. Before I bought the $50 belkin firewire adapter for my desktop, I was seriously flirting with the idea of buying a mac. I am glad I bought the adapter!!!! I hope this helps a little.
