My fifteen year old lounge room cd player gave up the ghost so my studio one had to come down for household duties so needing replacement. I spotted two of these CR500 Master Recorders on eBay locally for half retail so I nabbed one. Today I hitched it up and burnt a couple of cd's on it. It's my first piece of Fostex kit in all these years of recording.
So far it's pretty neat; nice level metering, rack mountable, +4db XLR or -10 RCA analog in and out, S/P DIF or AES/EBU digital in and out.
It can record in 16 bit / 44.1 Khz CD DA or BWF up to 24 bit / 96 kHz onto a CD-R or RW so it'll be just the thing for my analog to digital transfers off the tape recorders.
Kinda old school stuff now but ideal for what I'm doing given that the cd burner on my little BOSS BR1600 is so bad and I've been wondering what the best way to make hi-res digital copies of my analog tape stuff would be.
This'll do nicely.
