All of a sudden my computer is running at 75-90%. Used to be at about 35-4-%. Also, wave form dony always show, just a line.Pic cashe is at 260. That should be fine. Worked great yesterday, today yikes! Only difference is I added an HP printer to it yesterday but I would not think that should be a conflict. Any ideas?

It could have an effect if its running pretty little programs just exit any printer tasks frpm the taskbar. Otherwise its possible that your RAM has been damaged check if your RAM size was how it used to be. Other than that is this with no apps running or what check task manager for any pointless apps you dont need running.

It'll be the printer - more trouble than they're worth.

Go to Run>msconfig>Start Up and uncheck the boxes of all the programmes that don't need to be running continuously. Be careful not to switch any antivirus/spyware off.

Ideally, it's best to have a separate DAW... I'll get one one day damit!

try deleting the WOV files in your Picture Cache. This will force SONAR to draw new ones. I admit it sounds like your cache is pretty generously sized but you never know...

Could it be that the OS has redefined the latency buffer size for your soundcard? I know a couple of cards that has that problem....

The typical HP printer adds a ton of (almost) useless software that is loaded at boot time. Ink monitor, etc.

More than likely, the HP software is hogging your cpu cycles.

Depending on the software, you can often install only the drivers and skip the rest of the junk. Uninstall the package, then search the CD for a directory with just the drivers. Try to add a printer, and point to this directory.

wow, some real good tips! I'll work on them. Its hard to imagine a printer would cause such a fuss. When I do go to task manager, process, nothing else shows to be running but Sonar. Its a big machine, 1 gig memory,2.8 pent 4 process. I would not think I 'd have this issue. It has thus far only happened for one song. Not too many tracks, maby 30. I have others with 45 tracks that bring the CPU meter to 60 or 70.

One of the things mentioned in the 5.2 press release was CPU spikes. Who knows... Maybe the new code will magically fix this one also.

My fingers are crossed in your general direction.

I just bought a second UAD1 studio pack card.I believe I have the latest software.....well, at least I think. :)

Sorry - I meant the Sonar update to 5.2 not the UAD version.
