I put up some of my material I've done solely on n-track onto soundclick.com. This is my first full solo effort playing all instruments with the exception of one song and I don't have anyone locally that's internet/streaming mp3-centric enough to trust to turn to at the time for critique. Could y'all take a good honest listen through any or all of the pretty short instrumental and full songs and tell me if anything sounds really horrible or out of place enough to make you want to claw your eyes out? I mixed all this stuff on headphones and I don't have anything really close to "true" to reference it against except my Ford stock car stereo that adds a limiter to my stuff when I play it on CD full volume like it does my other CDs.

Hopefully someone here is also "into" this niche of music. I put out the same call on Fasoft's music post board but they've told me before that most of them aren't into the "heavier" music like I am enough to critique. I thought my stuff was kinda tame in comparision with national acts selling millions of cd's right now...anywhoo.....

Now I know that 128kb MP3s are really hard to judge as far as technical clarity and definition goes but for mass streaming is the stuff okay or should I go back to the console for more tweaking?

Here goes:

Listenin right now...first comment, you should probably post this in the MP3 clinic, you will get a lot more responses there...guaranteed. Second comment (listening to Death Grip), I like it, nichewise. There is a lotta hiss at the beginning and at other spots on the acoustic guitars...beginning vocals get a bit lost, I'd say bring em up :D. The first lead guitar is a bit lost too, I'd say bring that up a bit as well. Overall though I really liked it tho. I will refrain from making further comments as my ear is relatively untrained (plus I shouldn't comment on something thats not posted in the clinic  ). As well, maybe it's good to let people know what you used to record with...maybe :D....The drums are really strong I think, are they programmed???...ahh gotta go!

Ok. tool your advice and put it up in the MP3 clinic. I never got a chance to look around further in this site before I posted that first thread but I found the different messageboard, so I went ahead and posted there and song discussions are picking up there.

I know the Death Grip song has all the hiss and leaves something to be desired mix-wise but it was the only version of that song I have and it was mixed and recorded on a tascam 4-track at high speed. Unfortunately there's nothing I can really do to that song short of re-recording it into digital to mix since tape gremlins got the original tape and I lost all the transferred files in a freak partition wipe last year but my wife loves the song and insisted I post it up there.
