Could I connect the headphone out of my amp to my audio interface? Would it work and would I get a pleasent sound or am I just crazy?

If you can control the volume level on either the headphone out from the amp or the audio interface then it's worth a try. Take a guitar cable and plug it into the headphone jack about halfway, then plug the other end into the audio interface and slowly turn it up until you are pleased.

Do you mean put the cable halfway in or have the volume halfway up? I assume the latter.

Put the cable halfway in and turn the volume all the way down. A headphone jack puts out a stereo signal, but for now - in the testing phase - you'll just need one side of the stereo signal, hence the mono plug inserted halfway into the TRS jack to make contact with the sleeve and ring only. If it works for you, buy the appropriate cable at a later time...

Ok thanks a lot. I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes.

Well it cerently works! I'm getting a fair bit of hiss and fuzz and buzz etc. but it's not that noticable when recording at a lower volume.

I'll certenly keep experimenting with it. Thanks!
