Correct Timing

Could anyone please tell me how to bring audio from Adobe Audition into Sonar 5 with the correct timing. I never use any of the timing features in either of these projects because I only ever record audio not midi, (although I'm going to start looking at that), I do use FL5 for my drum tracks, maybe that is causing the timing problems. The track I have tried to import is playing far to slow and tracks are out of sync. Any Suggestions? Can I switch something of, (or on)?

Are the two programs running at the same sample rate?

It sounds like that might be the problem.

That's a possibility, is it possible to convert the sample rates to get around this?

Yes, but not within Sonar. There are some free converters available, although I haven't used them and can't vouch for the quality.

Here's one: http://www.softforall.com/mp3naudoi/UtilitiesPlugIns/r8brain01110011.htm

Obviously you are going to need to know what rate the current file is at and what rate you need to convert to. If you "right click" on the file and choose properties, Windows can tell you the sample rate of the file.

I'd have thought Sonar would do an automatic sample rate conversion when importing audio. I use GT3, a cut down version of Sonar, and it will automatically adjust a 44K wav file if I import into a 48K project.

Where it falls down in GT3 is if I adjust the tempo after importing the file. This always seems to cause me problems, wither slowing down or speeding up the audio. I think the trick to to set the project tempo to the imported audio tempo before importing any audio

Well that would work if it's a new project. In his case it seems he already has other material in the project that was recorded at a different sample rate.

At least that's my guess as to why the imported audio doesn't sync with the rest.
