Hi,

I'm going to build my own bass traps in this http://www.hp-h.com/p/hapicmpur/basstraps.htm style but using a different material inside. I've tried to find 703 fibreglass but I don't know where to get it from in the U.K. But I have found this ‘RockWool’ Sound Insulation . On the pictures I've seen in their catalogue, it looks like the fibreglass wool I've seen people talk about on this forum (But then that’s only looks), but would it be any good for a bass trap? I know there’s not much of a description, but the description seems the same as the fibreglass wool I've researched on U.S website links off this forum and from peoples suggestions on bass traps. Or does anyone in the U.K know the best place to purchase 703 Fibreglass or an alternative? (As I may be looking in the totally wrong place!) Thanks for any help anyone can give me!

Thats only 2" thick so would need to be doubled or tripled, dependant on the density. I live in the Scotland and am thinking of buying Bonded logic ultratouch from Brian, of these forums, who lives in the US. I'm thinking of buying in bulk to save on shipping, so if you want, i could sell you some. Only problem is, I've got next to no money, and brian hasn't got back to me for a few weeks. I don't know when I'll be able to get it, or how much it'll be. You interested? Anybody else?

Yeah, as it comes in a pack of 8 and I want to make 4 Bass Traps I was going to double it to 4”. I would be interested in that, if the price is good and nothing else arises that I could use. Let me know how it develops! Thanks!

Haven't forgotten about you - just can't get a decent price from anyone on this end on shipping it.

It might be easier if you can find a freight forwarder and arrange it from your end and I'll just ship to them.

I apologize for the delay but it's getting harder and harder with fuel prices to get any kind of reasonable shipping overseas. I am also working with Glenn K of GIK acoustics. He's looking at exporting some of his products to the UK. Those would work well and we MAY be able to piggy back some of the cotton together in a single shipment to save on cost.

badger, you should be able to get that from your local builders merchant which should save you some money, and you will be able to get it in the correct thickness :)

Rock Wool and Fiberglass are both good materials. The important thing is the density. It should be from three to five pounds per cubic foot, or whatever that calculates to in kilograms per cubic meter

Yeah i know how it is. Hmmm... I wont need it for a while, so theres no rush. That would be good to piggy back with the GIK acoustics shipment. I'm not really sure how to find and arrange a freight forwarder.

This company say they can supply a rigid fibreglass "with the same spec as 703". I think you'll have to cpontact them for pricing though. If you do i'd be interested in what they come back with.

Hey Pandamonk I might be interested on some of the imported stuff if a solution is found for shipping, depending on price.

Ohh...that'll be great. I'm not sure how long it'll be before I have enough money/the solution is found for shipping though. I'll keep you posted.

Lemme see if I can find something close to the wholesaler. If not, I can find something in Chicago I'm sure. Just a matter of additional charges to get it all to Chicago - where the large qty would work against you.
