I have recently invested in a new Fostex VF160. Due to the obnoxiously long shipping time, the store lent me a VF08 to play around with for the time being. Now that I have finally recieved my VF160 I am looking to transfer my data from the VF08 -- the only problem being the VF08 is a bare bones system, no SCSI or burner connections. Has anyone tried throwing the harddrive directly into a computer system and transfer the data that way, or does it use a proprietary Fostex file system? If so, any other suggestions on how I could transfer the data.

Thanks,

on second thought...

I just thought of another possible solution....

In theory; I should be able to throw the HD from the VF08 right into the VF160 and back the data up to CD? Or am I going to run into a version conflict (is the actual Fostex OS firmware or stored on the HD?). Any comments/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Grrr...

... so I called Fostex support (very impressed with the product, not impressed with the support however)... apperently there is no real solution to this besides running stereo out from the VF08 into the VF160, send out one track at a time, *sigh* -- drunk, frustrated; I just formatted the bitch -- forget abou' it.
