copy and paiste vox tracks but not loose

clip placement
When ever I try to take say 5 vocal takes and comp them to one its a pain. I use sonar 5, Now I will copy the clip, go to new track, try to paiste it but I always have to align it again. When copying I see the clip props. but how do I maintain that clip porp when paisting to new track?
 
ouch...i haven't used cakewalk in years, but perhaps look around your settings for some sort of "snap to" feature

snap to grid maybe? I have for years now just plunked down the copied clip and worked it in by ear. should be a better way
 
Definitely use snap to grid.
All your cuts will be in the same spot and when you paste they will automatically align.
 
Sonar 5 has great track layering features. You can store multiple takes in the same track and comp them there by muting parts of takes. I think when you try it you'll like it. Then you could bounce that to a single track, archive the layered track, and keep all options available for the duration of the project. No cutting/Pasting.

Layering is a great Idea. I was just looking at that in the manual,seems a little confusing but I 'll try it

Well, if your going to copy and 'paiste'

then I think it has to be a drum track. :rolleyes:

Sorry, that was just begging to be said.
 
If you have clips with random start and stop points, if you set the snap feature to snap to clip boundaries, you can snap your now time to the start of the clip you want to cut, cut or copy it, then select the destination track without moving the now time, and hit paste to drop it at the same spot.
