Littmuze raised an issue I'm not familiar with. To quote: "check for electromagnetics for single coil hum". Some questions:

1. Would this interference be from external sources (outside the studio), which means the whole studio should be protected?

2. Do computers and monitors generate this? should they be isolated (for example, mounting the monitor below the worksurface with a plexi viewing panel) or will being in a seperate room from the instruments negate this?

3. How does the mesh work? Does it need to be grounded, like lightning protection? Where can I get it? Is it necessary

I suppose question 1/2 is: Electomagnetics? What is it?

Maybe this should be in the newbie section.
Thanks for any help

It's called a faraday cage. And yes it needs to be grounded.

Okay, I have now learned to use that button with "search" on it. Tons of info, thanks for pointing me in the right direction!
