I swear. I went to a magazine store today and looked at the latest ish of Home Recording Magazine and it had an article on Cool Edit Pro 2. There is nothing about it on their site so I imagine what I saw was next month's issue, which basically stated it was just released. Meaning it will be released within the next month.

Some of the features I noted:

-Realtime Direct X FX/Realtime EQ
-basic MIDI recording/playback capability
-much nicer interface, goodbye to that gay baby blue.. new buttons.. otherwise still recognizable.
-integrated loop construction, or something to that effect..

there was some other nifty things that I can't remember right now, and apparently more it didn't list.. Should be good.. I'm gonna be all over this puppy.

Yeah, stories about 2.0 have been coming from all directions for a coupla months - Microsoft, various recording magazines. Syntrillium's come out of the closet on their own site and said it will released 'early in 2002'.

yes, well if home recording mag said it's "just released" that's a pretty good indication it's expected like, this month or feb. I'm stoked.

Grrrrrrrrrrrrrr. I don't want ANYTHING to change with that interface (except maybe getting all the toolbars to show at once, that's about it).

Hope they don't screw that diggable color scheme. (Seriously, anyone try making the colors better? eech.)

It's the colors that make it cool. I like the program for what it does, and I like the UI for the way it looks. Miles ahead of any other prog I've seen. Sorry, kilometers ahead. :D

Maybe the appearance of 2.0 is tweakable.

I'm curious about CEP's new MIDI feature, I don't do much MIDI (if any) but I wonder if it'll be a good thing or it will get in the way. The realtime stuff sounds awesome.

The CEP interface right now is tweakable if you know how.

get in the way? blasphemy. I've been looking for a program that would merge all the things I like about CEP, Sonar, and Cubase, and so far CEP has the most potential for that, outside of VST support..

yes, that is one of the things I mentioned.

that page provides some interesting clues.

I beleive you can run VST effects under DX in CEP v1... If you get whats called a VST WRAPPER(?) . I havent done it, though.. as the waves bundle is all I will ever need.

xoxo

Yes you can run vst's with a wrapper....depending on what plug you use.it can be very buggy,or not work at all....But most run fine..

I doubt the LM4 Mark II would work, I tried it under NTrack and it crashed every time.. so it's probably not very wrapper friendly, or friendly outside of Cubase, period..

I put my jk3 in the red last night and the oscillating 2k hi hat reinforcement took the 4/4 out of my sonic undulator.:p Go figure.

I saw those screenshots and I was wondering if Warez has got a hold of this new CEP? I'd just like to try it out, I'm going to buy it when it comes out but I'm so darn curious.

wouldn't we all like to know.. but I doubt this is a smart place to talk about that.

Well, I emailed Syntrillium to see if I could beta test CEP 2.0. I doubt it will work, but I figured it couldn't hurt. I will keep you posted.

They stopped looking for beta testers a few months ago...

Syntrillium did ask for beta testers in the forum at their site...but awhile ago. They already have enough and have been turning ppl down that ask now.(according to posts from their board.)

v2.0 has not leaked to the underground world as of last week. I am about dying to try it, so I can decide if I'm doing our next project on v1 or what. We start tracking in March, syntrillium... so hurrytheEFup!

xoox

They also say on their website that people that have purchased Cool Edit Pro v1.x on or after December 1, 2001 will get the free upgrade to 2.0! Luckily, I haven't purchased CEP yet, but I'm going to right away!!

No way...

There is no way that this is the case, I think I remeber them saying there may be a discounted price for registered users though.
