no its quite common in software to give free upgrades if you buy close to the new release. I mean who would buy v1 to use for 1 week? It wouldn't be fair on the new user would it ?

"The EQ report is true. When we talked with EQ about it back in October, we thought CEP2 would be done at about the time their report came out, but we ended up "slipping" the product release, so the timing is off. Anyway, we are still working on it and will likely release early next year. Pricing is not announced yet, but there will of course be a discounted upgrade program for CEP1 users, and customers who buy CEP1 on or after 12/1/2001 will be eligible for a free upgrade to CEP2."
