Hi, I've just joined and have an midi issues. I would be most grateful for any advice.

I'm using Protools LE 8 and an m-audio keyrig 49. The keyrig is connected and I can hear and record midi. My problem is that I can't convert the midi to audio. I have looked up several tutorials but the issue seems to be that on the midi track on the edit window, the insert/send options are not available.

Also on the l /O options I can only choose keyrig> (and then all channels or channels 1-16) & below that >none / or the synth that I am using; in this case mini grand.

Picture of the screen shot is attached.

I am sure it's simple, but I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. Any tips would be gratefully accepted!

Thanks,

Kate

Don't know PT at all! Sorry Kate,. but if you can export the MIDI file almost any other DAW such as Reaper, Samplitude Silver, will open it and should play it using Win Wavetable (and sound pretty B awful!)
I suspect somehow you are not "telling" PT what to open the file with.

Dave.

I seem to have solved it, although it's nothing like any of the tutorials I watched on youtube.

I did the following:

-added a stereo audio track
-on the aux track I set bus 1-2 as a send
-on the audio track I set the input to bus 1-2

I was then able to record the midi into audio.

you also need to set the output on the aux channel to bus 1-2.
