converting CDs to mp3s

I don’t really work with sound. I am a webmaster of a church website. However, we want to put our sermons on our web site. Currently the services are recorded onto music CDs using a CD recorder.

1) I want to convert these files to 24 kbps MP3s. What software would you recommend?

2) Should we connect a computer directly to the soundboard, what type of hardware would you recommend? I have looked at both the creative Audigy and Extigy products. Is this in line for what I need, or am I wasting money?

Just stick your CD in your CD rom drive and open it up in Musicmatch and hit the Record Button.
Be sure to go into the Options section to set the bitrate to 24kbps if thats the desired bitrate.
