What's the easiest way to take a stereo track and make the left channel 1 track and the right channel a 2nd track?

Man, that's a lot of extra steps, all that routing and sending.

A much easier way to do it is to duplicate the track, and then just right click on one and select "Item Settings" and "Mono Left", and then right click on the other and select "Item Settings`and "Mono right".

You can then render each track by soloing it and rendering it in mono.

Probably what I'd have ended up doing.

Huh? What's with all these 2+ step processes?

Right click the media item > Item Processing > Split stereo track to mono

That's what I would have done, and it's what I expect Reaper to have provided.

I don't know what version of REAPER you have, but mine doesn't have that option. No " Split stereo track to mono" in my REAPER.

I'm using Reaper 4.61. It took me a while to find it.

* Right click on the stereo track
* Select "Item processing"
* Select "Explode multichannel audio or MIDI items to new one-channel items"

I * Select "Explode multichannel audio or MIDI items to new one-channel items"
Ah, ok, that's an important step. I've never gone that for into that menu.

So, there you go. We went from 20 un-necessarry steps, to 3 un-necessarry steps, to the proper way. Now THAT'S what a forum is all about. :cool:

Thanx Vomit and Gecko.

In all honesty, neither had I until VHS mentioned it.

I did find it curious that the option was amongst the channel options on the properties page.

My bad on the wording. Now that I reflect on it, I think it's "Explode" in my version too (3.xx), but it's not in front of me right now.
