Hey all,

I previously made a post about this general topic.

Im pretty new to cotrol surfaces, and im just wondering what would i need to change the Trebble/Bass/Mid on tracks i've recorded through a control surface in sonar 3. (Apart from the Mackie Control Surface, to much $$$ needed!).

If anyone knows any links to how these things work in general or what plugins i would need, that would be great, or if anyone has any advice on a set up.

Thanks

I know that =). Im just want to have a desk to control whats on screen. Any ideas on what to use?

Yeah, i've been looking at the Behringer BCR2000 B-Control Rotary.

But would that allow me to change the treb/bass/mid on the tracks recorded?,
If so, any ideas on the stuff i need to set up?

Thanks

You need to look at what protocol Sonar uses to communicate with the control surface. (eg. native, mackie, hui). Then see what the control surface runs as.

If you buy the Behringer you don't need anything else. You can set up a Generic control surface in Sonar. It's as simple as selecting the track you want (i.e. track 1) and the function you want (Low EQ), and clicking MIDI learn and turning the knob you want to assign that function. You do this for each parameter until all the knobs are assigned. Save that control surface as a preset, and create another if you want more functions. You could then literally adjust hundreds of parameters without even touching the mouse.

ahh cool thanks =)

that was exactly what i was looking for!

Some more options would be the Tascam us-224 or us-428...

They don't have motorized faders.

There's also the CMLabs Motormix. There are a few on Ebay right now going for around $300. They've got 8 motorized faders, plus an actual screen on the control surface. They look like they'd be a bit more solid than the Behringer.

Check 'em out.

I've been wanting to get one for a while.. but I can't seem to convince myself that it's actually worth the money.

Don't use it personally, but I have friends who do, and they love 'em. I'm probably going to pick one up, with tax-return money.

I've never used one before, so i got no idea what im in for, are they hard to set up?

Not really!!! Most everything is covered in the manual. I believe it has preloaded presets. If none of them fit your application, the unit features a MIDI learn function (The same as Sonar discussed earlier, except vica-versa, the BCR2000 learns from your computer or other hardware, and you save a preset right into it).
