Control Change/Program Change/Bulk Dump

I use MIDI, but only to record music/mix/edit/pan/compress etc...

now I'd like to know what this: CONTROL CHANGE, PROGRAM CHANGE, BULK DUMP, SYSTEM EXCLUSIVE stuff is, I have a digital mixer and I'd like to see if it helps any.

What do these applications do that make them so special to want to use. LAMEN terms please

I think I have that book already, but Thanks anyway

I just wanted to know was there a USAGE for it, in what I was doing. Apparently not, I understand the terminology, but from what I see it doesnt fit into what I need to do. In other words
it wont help me do anything faster, quicker, easier or time effective.
