HEY ASSHOLES!!
Thanks for the help with this one. I think I'm gonna' take a break until I get some tracks from Chessrock, but I needed to burn part of the Pregame time replying to some comments.
Flash - Thanks for stopping by.
Guernica - Hey man. The "bass" is actually one of my 6 String Acoustic gits, so it's definitely a short neck....LOL. I think Chessrock is coming up with something better. This got thrown together really fast to check out some new stuff, but I wanna' keep it now. OH, AND FOR THE LAST TIME, THAT HISS THAT YOU HEAR IS NOT HISS, IT JUST SOUNDS EXACTLY LIKE HISS...LOL ...
(here's the TMI portion of my response to you: there's a song by 7 Mary 3 called "Lucky," and they use a big plate reverb on the acoustic that I've grown to love, but I remember that the first time I heard it, I thought it was hiss; plus, I didn't calculate the reverb very accurately...when the git is solo'd, you can tell it's reverb, but as is...I agree...just sounds like hiss).
Sluice - Your posts in this thread made me feel really good; and, as always, your mix comments helped. But mostly, I just liked the stuff you said.

Thanks, man.
David - I hate drums...LOL. Thanks for checking out, my little green friend.
Dobro - I appreciate your taking the time to check this out. As much BS as I spout in the CoolEdit forum, I think it's healthy to let folks know that I don't actually have a clue what I'm doing.

Oh, and the bass and drums sound PERFECT in the .wav file...it's just that CEP encoder that screwed them up, LOL.
stratomaster - There's a little music store here that I've frequented for years, and I have no idea how the owner stays in business, but he's a really cool guy, and he let me demo a Studio Projects C-1 for a couple of weeks... Now I think I'm actually gonna' have to buy the lopsided clunker...I don't even have a proper mic clip for it right now....using duct tape, LOL. yeah, with the duct tape, it looks like a regular piece of my "studio."
powderfinger - thanks for listening again. I like that kick.
mixmkr - thanks for taking the time. The timing issues were accentuated by the backwards way I did this. It all sounded okay before I added drums...LOL. Anyway, I hope it's better than it was, and I think it's gonna' get better in the near future. (GO CHESSROCK!!)
erichenryus - You're right about me squeezing the crap out of the vocals...I always do that. I cannot mix any other way, and I can barely mix THIS way.

The mic was a studio projects C-1, which is technically not a dynamic...LOL. But I agree that it kinda' sounds like that by the time I get done with it. Thanks for checking it out, and thanks for the favorable comparison....Lyle Lovett's too talented for me to feel comfortable with the comparison, though. The singer in my band does Lyle's taxes and goes deer hunting with him every year south of Houston, so maybe I'll slip him a CD.

Take care.
Jagular - Hey man...I hope you stick around. We seem to think kinda' similarly about music. I love a bunch of Canadian "Country" bands, myself, and the comparison is one that makes me grin. Check out Cross Canadian Ragweed if you like any of that stuff...and DEFINITELY check out Chris Knight (from Kentucky)...I just think he's a model songwriter. Anyway, I'm looking forward to more from you.
AIA2j Hey Al: Okay, brought the bass up...but I think having it replaced entirely is the key.

Thanks for the help.
bobbo - Man, Camper Van Beethoven...there's a name I haven't heard in about a decade.

Thanks for the input and for listening.
MyDyingBride - Nice username, btw. I'm having a hard time mixing the acoustics on this one. Part of the problem, I think, is that there's so much high end in the acoustics that they start walking on the hat and ride more than they compete with the vocal...so it creates weirdish timing issues. Anyway, I appreciate the listen, and I hope it gets better with some of Chessrock's contributions.
Thanks again, all. This is the most helpful place on the internet, and I think you all just freakin' rock.
