Hello,

I had just returned from the US, with some new stuff. I finally got a "real" mixer (Behringer 602A), instead of the cheapass DJ mixer I used before. The problem is, I'm not sure if my connections are ideal. I hooked it up that way:

Main Outs go in the computer's line in.
Computer's Line Out goes in Tape In.
Control Room out goes to the amp/monitors.
Tape Out goes in a portable Mini Disk (Which has nothing to do with anything).

Does that seem right?

I bought one of those 602A's myself a couple of months ago. I'm embarrassed to say, but I'd been struggling to frame a question about what's holding me back in my beginner's learning curve state, with regard to recording. Your question was mine as well, but I didn't know how to put it. Asking the proper questions is a great way to learn anything.

I came into this with a bunch or proto-tunes in my head and a talent for making them sound good to others with my guitar. Once I'd geared up, I had to learn all about MIDI, CakeWalk, recording, etc. . Although, I've managed to get two tunes recorded, I barely know what I'm doing. The recording quality is pretty bad, although good enough for me to use as a scaffold to build on.

Your question was a catalyst, for some reason. A lot of stuff suddenly became clear. Thanks.

Hey Denis,
Once you get recording wired, then you can start to learn about mixing.

Once you've got that down, then there's mastering!!

The more I learn, the more I realize how little I know...
