I'm having trouble connecting my digital piano as a keyboard to the computer. All the connections are set up and should be correct according to the instructions. But I get no sound or response in the in/out indicator on the Transport Bar. I managed to get a guitar to work through it so why not the keyboard?

Help!!!!

A mistake that I almost always make is accidentilly swapping the In and Out ports with the PC.

Try swapping the MIDI cable hooked up to the Casio's Out port and see if that helps?

I have tried and find nothing has happened. There must be something in the cubasis setup that's wrong. Have you any other suggestions?!

It could be so many things.

Are you sending on the right channel?

Is your MIDI setup correct in Control Panel?

Is your Casio set for Local On and no send?

Wait a minute! You got your Guitar to work? There are different settings for Guitars than keyboards. Is your PC set up for MONO? That's something used for guitar that won't work for keyboards.

Thanks for your advice. I found out that I need to connect another cable from the headphones socket in the piano to the headphones socket in the computer. I still have to try - have not been able to get at the computer as the rest of the family have been hogging it! ....will try tonite and let you know! I'm desperate to get on with my compositions for college and daren't leave it any longer.

I'm confused.

I thought you wanted to record MIDI with your keyboard, not audio.

Going from the headphone socket of the piano the the headphone socket of the computer won't work (both are outputs, not inputs). Connect from the headphone "out" on the piano to the "line-in" on the computer instead. A 1/8" stereo cable should work for that. If you are using MIDI, that's a whole different story.
