Hi everyone!

I got a boss DR-660 Drum Machine that I want to connect to my PC, which has a SoundBlaster 128 PCI. I want to connect the DR-660 to my PC so that I can do some stuff with Sonar. I actually want to do that in order to learn more about working with midi and sonar.

However, I am a newbie to midi and I don´t really know what cable to use and where to plug it in.

The DR-660 has a midi-in and a midi-out ( these "round holes with 5 pins" ;) )

My sound card seems to have a midi-in as Sonar finds one, it probably is the large thing with somewhere between 10 and 30 pins that my joystick is currently connected to. My PC also has a USB.

Is there a type of cable that has a plug for the "round holes with 5 pins" on one end and a plug for my sound card on the other, and does this work? Can I use the USB for midi as well? Is there a way to send the signal from Sonar to my DR-660 and send the sound back into the line-in of my PC?

Sorry for these layman questions, but I really got no idea! ;)

Yeah, there's an adapter available that turns the game port into a MIDI In and Out port. Creative sells them but the SoundBlaster architecture is a de facto standard and other manufacturers make the same adapters, sometimes for less $$. You might be able to find a generic one at a music store or possible even a Radio Shack or CompUSA...
