I jus got a laptop as i wanted to improve my recording quality and I'm not exactly an expert on computers and don't know how to connect my 16 track mixing desk (with all it's 16 mixing desk outputs) to the laptop desk can anyone help please? is there a certain device i need to buy?

Yea well ifs USB then stick it in your USB port. But you can stick it into a Audio Interface which you need thats for laptops. I would reccommend something mobile for you so that way you can move around w/ it. Heres a few reccomendation (These are Audio Interfcae I saerched on zzsounds.com, now if you want to know the ebst you got ask around on the site)

16 outpus on a firewire device is going to be tricky. Since you are using a laptop it's gotta be firewire.

You could get 2 of these http://www.motu.com/products/motuaudio/traveler/overview.html
Each have 8 line inputs

Or get one of those and some device that can take 8 inputs and convert them to adat.

I don't think there is a single device that is firewire that can take 16 line inputs.

by the way my mixing desk out puts are phono jaks i'm not sure if they would work with the stuff u showed me. I think my mixing desk is analogue, do u reckon i should buy a digital one or jus get somethin like this
