How to connect the Shure C607 to my soundcard? I made an attempt and I now have weak signal and lot of noice. Maybe I made a mistake in the wiring? Does anyone know how to to the right connection from XRL to jack, so I can get rid of the noise?

echoooooooooooo
anyone here

any info on the SHURE c607 - there is no such a mic at SHURE.COM???

You need to give more info. The mic won't have a strong enough signal by itself, unless you plug into the mic jack on your soundcard but that will give you a real bad signal. You need to go from mic to some kind of mic preamp and then into the line in jack on your card. Ex = mic --> mixer-->line in on card. I sugest you read the info on the home page of Home Recording.com

But the signal is OK - there is a mic preamp on my soundblaster. What I wanted to know is how to make the connection between the XRL and the jack. I curently have the following situation:

pin 1 XRL - jack left
pin 2 XRL - jack right
pin 3 XRL - ground

a guy offered me this one:

pin 1 - ground
pin 2 - ground
pin 3 - sleeve

(he also said NOT to use the jack ring)
????

well?

still need more info. Does your mic need phantom power? If not Radio Shack can sell you the adapters you need to get from the XLR on your mic to the 1/8" in on your SB card. BUT the sound you record will not be good. You still need to go thru a mixer or mic preamp to line in on the soundcard. I still think you should read the info on this subject on the home page of homerecording.com.
