Great! :)

Hey, Porter! Congrats with your new Avatar! :D

And just for the heck of it I added a WWW page to my profile.

Thats 2 of my old recordings which I did on a Roland VS-840.

Niiice! I will check them out. But don't expect to hear any of my old stuff... man, that sucks.

That stuff sorta sucks... They were my first and second real attempts at recording...

I did a more Orchestral piece once but I'm wanting to re-do that in Sonar...

Soon it will happen.

I'm at the stage when I have about 5-10 songs to record and I just want to record them so they are out of the way allowing me to be more creative.

Your first recordings sounds much better than my first recordings! But the GM Drums sounds alittle ... err... cheap... ;)

heheh... Yeah well at the time it was more of a 'click' track to me.

I'm going to re-record all my stuff in Sonar... over the years I've gotten to learn more and more. I'm hoping that my next recording will prove and show that.

2 pages... now I'm even more impressed!

When can we hear it? :)

And, yeah! 2 pages on 2 hours is pretty good! :D

I'll get something together for next week... how does that sound?

If I haven't done it by then keep onto me and I'll get there.

Go to the mp3 clinic with this stuff, Porter....or redo them in SONAR and then take them to the mp3 clinic. I'm sure they start naggin' about your drums and hiss, but don't let that bother ya....it sounds pretty good in general. And you've got a nice voice...very good for harmonies too!

Sure! People need to be bugged about posting mp3s (I know by personal experience, James bugged me for 6 months before I posted in the Clinic)... ;)

Arrr. but I didn't post MP3's... I was just making you aware of my previous recordings so you know where I've come from.

I'll be posting in the clinic next week... or after I post my songs to mp3.com.au and they post them. Can take a couple of days.

The "pro's", right?

Hehe! I got a great story on that one. I have a "friend" here in town that is a critic for a hobby (nice fellow... NOT). I played him one of my new songs. He sat back and said: "You need to work on your mic-placement on that drumkit", and I asked him why. He said "It just doesen't sound like it's "professional" recorded".

I just laughed. I couldn't help it. I used the "Drumkit from Hell" and had programmed the beat myself!!!! Man, he turned red when I told him that... :D :D :D

hehe... good old standard GM Drum kit on MIDI Channel 10 for me..

For my recording I'll use my SR-16 Drum Kit. And probably a few sounds from my Roland JV-1010 and use my Bass Guitar, Telecaster and I might even get out a couple of guitar effects pedals just to give then a go (I hope they still work). And of course it will be recorded in the mighty SONAR!!!!!

No, the pro's never review stuff with fake drums...well, at least I have never seen them doing it...

Great story, btw.

All the nagging about 'getting real drums' makes me even more stubborn. Makes me want to write a song that contains the fakest of fake drum sounds. To the point it's not even a drumkit anymore. Well, my old stuff (the first things I did with my 'puter, you can find it on http://www.nowhereradio.com/trafo , album Los Zand) is pretty weird, drumwise. Download Quantanamera, Los Zand or Goeroe and you know what I mean...

The Eagles new tune uses a Drum Machine.... and it is sooo obvious... so will the 'Pro's' review that?

Porter

Congratumalations.
I like one of your tunes, I can't remember because I accidently closed the thing... one sec.... "Feelings don't just dissapear". Your stuff is very much like mine, and the chorus has the same chord pattern as mine :( :) I like

Kit

Only one? hehe..

Yeah I went a little crazy with that song... I used 3 different Guitars... but there were 6 guitar parts.. vocals, crappy drum, then i sang the vocal harmonies then in mix down I made a mistake and doubled them.. so During the Chorus you are hearing 5 vocal tracks...

I might not go so overboard with the redo.. in some places I thought it was a little too much... let's see what happens.

I could make this a new sort of post... ie the re-recording of an old song.. giving you updates every night. hmmm maybe not... my work flow wouldn't be quick enough.

Porter

lol. I'll listen to the other one later. Just in the middle of being freaked out by this effects piece lol

Only 6 guitars? At one project I had 21 guitars... I tried writing some very complex guitar-tracks... But in the end it sucked, so I scratched it... I usually use between 4 and 8 guitar-tracks. ;)
