Im buying a used Behringer b-1 condenser tomorrow used for $70. this is my first time purchasing a condenser , which is why im going used for that price. Im also picking up my Tascam dp02 cf digital recorder tomorrow which does have phantom power but was told the preamp on that model was kinda weak. Can I use a small mixer with phantom power or do I need to use a pre amp? also, can I use a normal mic cord that goes XLR from MIC to 1/4" jack? or does it need to be XLR to XLR?:cool:

To use the phantom power on your Tascam, you must use an XLR to XLR cable. Try this first before putting a mixer in the path and introducing an additional source of noise. But, yes . . you can use a small mixer. However, it needs to have phantom power, and you would still need an XLR tp XLR to go from mike to mixer.

You could probubly find a better mic for around $50.

Almost anything is better than that Behringer...Ive bought 2 of my AT3035 mics for $50...and an AKG C2000b for $60...compared to those the Behringer sounds like a nail on a blackboard...lol.

That 2000 is a very usable mic, better than any in that group
