I am looking for a way to record to my computer. Im looking into using an Audiogram 6 Is there anything like this with more inputs/ a on-board mixer? What ways beside USB can i get recordings to my computer? And with USB, if im using Cubase and i use all of the inputs will it record them as seperate tracks on Cubase? Will it do this if I am not using USB? Thank you.

you can use more than interface and keep adding inputs... there's a zillion interfaces out there, and Cubase LE, free or practically free, has a great on board mixer.
What ways beside USB can i get recordings to my computer?
through Firewire with a Firewire interface or through the computer's mic in, which isn't good enough for most people.

If you are using Firewire it will too. Firewire and more commonly USB work great for all the stuff you're talking about and normally there's no reason to look for another way.

thanks a lot
i meant, though, some hardware that has a mixer, not a software mixer, that i can record multiple instruments at once, and can output to my computer and record separate tracks with on some software. Thanks.

I was taking a look at your Audiogram 6, looks like it only does stereo. You wont be able to do more than 2 channels with hard pan left and right.

A multi-out USB (M-Audio FastTrack 4 channel) but usually Firewire (PreSonus Firestudio for example) is what you need for more multi-track.

You can pick up a really cheap mixer to use with your Audiogram to add more inputs, the Audiogram will act as the interface device, but you'll only get 2 channels, left and right going into your computer. No "multi-tracking".

You have a usb inteface, better than using the line in on a non-proaudio card. Stick with USB.

Correct. From Alesis 8USB specs:

"Routes 2-channel stereo main output and 2-track return to computer".

Which is actually the most simply put any mixer has given on their specs.

Like I said, you want multi-track, you have to go firewire (I was pretty sure some USB did it too, but I guess there's some disagreement).

Firewire audio interface devices have built in preamps and virtual mixing board, so you can skip buying a mixer all together.

I have the same problem as you, I have a mixer and a USB device so I can only record sterio. I've been doing my research into getting a new device, and NO analog mixer does multi-send thru USB (digital mixers do +$2000).

my first mixer was that multimix with garageband. it was great to start out on but i have now moved up to a master control/fire studio. i'd recommend it to any one trying to start multi-track recording
