I have a fast track USB and it works fine however Im in the works of upgrading because I need more inputs to record drums.

First thing I would do is uninstall asio4all...I would aslo uninstall fast track drivers...go to m audio site and download latest drivers.

click on usb auio series...then click fast track usb...then click what opertating system you use...click download link below...it opens new page...scroll down to click download.

http://www.m-audio.com/index.php?do=support&tab=driver

What recording software are you using?

Once I downloaded latest drivers then I would open my DAW (in this case for me its Reaper)

Click on options/preferences

Then click on audio/device...select fast track in menu which would be under Asio...then click apply or ok.

Then I would go to Audio/device and click on buffering...change buffer size...Right now im using 256 as a media buffer size however the default was 1200 which was to much latency...I lowered the number and it works much better now.

First I would uninstall asio4all and unistall fast track then reinstall fast track with the latest drivers.

Atom Bomb:
Just spent 2 hours with this kid (She was very patient with me) and the Fast Track USB. Installed the new drivers and tried her out with a couple of DAWs. Kristal didn't co-operate too well but Magix worked out fine.
The latency is incredible but that's one of the trade offs with an entry level device.
Any way, thanks for the tip about the new drivers but I haven't really changed my mind about the Fast Track USB. Falls well below M-Audio's otherwise excellent standard. ;)

Problem is that your laptop is weaksauce. Is a lappy a must?

No and I completely agree a tower is the way to go but until I've got the money together I've gotta work with what I've got, hence the fast track usb.

Also as a cheeky bonus my techy friend is gonna bump my RAM up to a slightly more beefy 1gig..........better then nothing and its free.
