If there is such a thing, and more than one, what would be the best compressor, free or cheap, accessible to download???

Can I take this to mean that such an animal does not exist?

Well I'm more than a bit new to all of this, but I use the compressor which comes bundled with ntrack. You need to get your credit card out though as without registering it cuts all sound every ten seconds.

I've used it to beef up the drums and bass, and as a new toy I obviously used the maximum settings! After I mixed down and played the track back it was only the back wall of my house which stopped me flying backwards through the air, so I recommend it !

I've heard there are other good free ones available though.

Cheers,
Cazz.

N-track compressor

I've used the limited version which cuts out every 10 seconds, and wondered why they even bother including it, it is useless and so annoying that I couldn't tolerate trying it out!

How much does that registration cost anyway?

The bundled version is impossible to use!

I blindly paid for it in the hope it would be useful for a rushed demo, and luckily it done the job! Think it's around 20 dollars.

Some Plugin's...

I've heard some of the n-track plugins aren't so great, but have no personal experience to base that on.

?plug ins?

badass, which compressor from that site would you recommend?

I have used some of the Blueline plugin's with reasonable sucess. You might want to try others, however.

(with pathos in his voice, the agony of many recordings gone awry)

"Is there no wisdom you can impart upon me"???

I'm about ready to take my friends long ignored advice and buy a rackmountable compressor.

I wouldn't mind getting my hands on the real deal either, it gives you that 'hands on' feel that plugins just don't do for me. I am no expert with these things, and haven't even tried a lot of them out, but I do know the Blueline plug's work. My point of view is I want my recordings to sound as close to the 'live' thing as possible, therefore I don't actually use a lot of plugins.

I need more gear :o .

As far as top notch plugins go, however, try asking about them in the computer recording and soundcards forum, you will be sure to recieve more responses there, if you like.

I think I have heard that the best plug's out there go by the name 'Goldwaves', if that's any help. Pretty sure they aren't free though :( .

Best of luck!

I downloaded the limited version of Goldwaves' .wav editor, I haven't done much with it though, other than increase volume.
