What do you alll think of the compressor in Cubase? Is there better ones available for free online? the one's I've downloaded and tried aren't as good.

I haven't had any problems with the Cubase Compressor plug, but do any of you have an opinion??

Do you find it works better on certain instruments?

How about the whole mix???

I'm pretty happy with it...I think it's about what you can ask for as far as a software compressor goes. Personally I like to compress a little bit as I'm tracking, which I wish SX allowed you to do. But yea other than that no beef.

after using others.. you grow to see its not that good..
the main compressor i use right now is the Ultrafunk Compressor R3... its one of the cleanest vst plugin compressors i've heard.. i also use waves sometimes, but the ultrafunk sounds the best... for free you may wanna check out the blockfish..

The Cubase compressor gets the job done, but c9 is right: the more compressors you use, the more you'll realise that they're not that great.

Two good, fairly in expensive work-arounds are either 1) getting the Waves Renaissance or C1 compressor, or 2) getting an RNC and compress the signal on the way in.

On the other hand, you probably won't find a freeware compressor that's better than the built-in one in Cubase.

The Cubase compressor sucks!!!!!!!

The Waves Ren is pretty good, and the UAD-1 1176 and LA-2A is decent, but none of those beats a good H/W compressor on the way in.....

Just my 0,02€
