i like what u sayin, but it doesnt sound like u rappin to the beats -- sounds like u rappin over the beats . .. . it might be just me though . . .
 
I get what'chu saying. I'ma record them again tomorrow; those recordings were quick and I wasn't listening to the beats when I was rapping.

ok, i got a chance to listen. you sound nice on the beats but like said above you were not in sync with it. how are you recording? are you able to listen in headphones while you are recording?

when you re-record i'll give you a better review as far as content. sounds pretty good to me so far.

Constructive Words and encouragement...

My first thoughts are not in sync as mentioned and... bad sounding quality...Too quiet... And not enough emotion... You can't just rap you have to rap... Get loud make me feel what your saying... It sounds like your talk-rapping...

Both ya'll are on the right track. Let me say that first and for most... The below sounds mean and like im dissin ya'll but im not... be the bigger man and take heed to what i say and improve from it...

You guys are on the right track and your shoing creativity with ya rhymes...

And that song St8 Outta DC.... the second dude sounds SOOOOO Damn young.... like 8-12 years old... He sounds really bad because his voice hasn't matured yet (if that is a dude) and hes sayin all kinds of shit that to me hes too young to say... If someone says some shit that I know for damn sure they ain't bout or done or whatever... thats wack to me...

A lot of mainstreme rappers you might look upto do that too. Believe it... the only difference is... they are believable... they have a certain appeal, actors or not... when someone says they'll shoot up someone else crib or some shit... when i seen them i can discern that by looking at them.. "they MIGHT just do that hypathetically..." Its a character issue...

Like acting... getting into character...

mainstreme hip-hop is a genre that has turned into entertainment just like movies and actors...

Now I realize you'll take that as a diss... you can if you want, but its not meant as a diss...

I'm sayin KEEP RAPPIN... KEEP RECORDING! theres nothing your friend can do about his voice until it gets deeperso dont try to disguise the youngness that will just sound stupider... just try to improve ya skills and keep rappin...

Are you using a pop-filter on the mic? That will help...

Also listen to lots of your favorite rappers music and notice how their tracks are produced... its not really bitting, its learning... so try to produce your tracks howthey do...

Bow wow was rappin at 8 years old with his young ass voice and i didnt care for his shit either... the only difference is he had a million dollars or so behind him and PEOPLE WRITING FOR HIM... PLUS COACHING him on how to rap...

Lifes not over... just keep rapping and recording... This is all constructive criticism...

The main thing being dont be affriad to get emotional and crazy into the mic... I don't want to hear people RAP-TALKING... which you and your friend both did on them tracks...

Oh and listening again, your reading from a paper or off the computer aren't you?

MEMORIZE your lines more so it doesnt sound like your reading off of something... rehearse them... It sounds like your reading and sometimes you almost loose your lines as someone would do if they lost their spot reading for a split second...

Making music is a lot more then just rapping...

You said... "this is my heart, this is my city..." and i got a flatline for emotion...

I'd say rehearse the lines, get a pop-filter if you don't already have one... their like $15-$30 at any local guitar center or music equiptment retailer...

I got mine from musiciansfriend.com for like $15 plus shipping...

I bet if you do that, re-record you'll get better results...

And what program are you using to record in.... when mixing it down... try to get it as close to the 0dB line in your program as possible without going over 0 (peeking)....

I better see something better from you next time... :) I trust I will...

LAST QUESTION... how old are you? I'm 21... been rappin since I was 14... I know how it is... I'm trying to be as nice as I can... :)
 
I'm 14, my friend on that track is even younger, he's in 7th grade.

I don't agree with his topics of focus and his style but we both happened to be rapping and I just threw it together.

My stuff is solo; my track topics tend to be liberation, justice, and other social issues.

I've seen a lot of the "gangsta sh*t" in real life that most MCs rap about and that's why I try to avoid it. When my friends got shot up, it was not a happy time-I don't understand why rappers boast about things like that when I HATED it.

I'm working on getting my rhymes memorized but that seems to be my weakness. The Composer spit from memory in the posted track (may have been a freestyle, I don't know, I put a mic and filter in front of him randomly and he just started rhyming).

I think the main problem is that you're not listening to the beat in your headphones as you record. That could be why you can't ride the beat like you want to. I know, I've been there. Also, another thing that might help you is if you're going to read your lyrics, practice them as you write them (if you can write them in wordpad and have it on the screen as you're rapping that might help too). There's nothing wrong with writing your shit and having it there when you rap, but you may want to do a dry run first and then listen to it to get ideas of how it's really supposed to sound. Instead of being monotone, find spots where you can either add warmth to the track, put emotion into it, or both.

We can all see where you're going with those tracks, but you're young and you need time to get there. Keep working at it and everything will come into place.

Whoa! That is great advice but the eerie thing is that I just did all of the above things in between posting my last post in this thread and reading yours.

Also, I memorized my track about DC-so that's good. I'm going to post the re-recorded songs very soon (in the next few minutes).

Btw, the track A Drive By on Main Street, which i am about to post is not a gangsta track, all of the gangsta references have subliminal meanings that deal with my life.
