Hey guys, so I'm buying a Mac in the next few months and Logic Pro 9, but I'm not sure which audio interface/sound card or mic to purchase. I produce a lot of electronic music but my main aim is to record my band. I don't need loads of inputs for drum mics because we program drums anyway, I just need a piece of kit that I will get a good sound out of, I've heard good things about the Apogee One and Shure SM58? Any wisdom would be great :)

What is your budget for interface/mic and what instruments do you want to record? The SM58 is certainly a good choice, but there might be better suited options depending on your needs.

as stated about knowing the budget would be nice. Also how many tracks do you want to record at once. id say if your trying to get nice recordings the sm58 isnt the best option, its a great live mic imo but id go for a large diaphragm condenser for vocals, and an gls es57 (the well talked about sm57 copies) for guitar amps an such.
