all of these mics are in the sub-$200 realm, and not a one of them sounds similar--and given the ones i mentioned, they sound VERY different.

The C1 and B1 sound VERY similar, some say identical. Read some "pro" reviews and you'll find many share this opinion and because of this many seem to recommend the B-1 over the C-1 at $100 less. I own both mics.
