....I'm flat broke - somebody grab it!

OT - is there a way to search all of craigslist?

Good question. I know you specify in some forums, but I think you have to go city by city for everything else?

The EV mics are great mics. Here's more info on them... http://mojopie.ipbhost.com/index.php?showtopic=845

That was an interesting thread, Oz.

I was surprized to see the 666 absent from that discussion. As a rock vocal mic, that thing is just wicked fun.

That Bob Ohlsen has always been a freak for the Electrovoice dynamics, hasn't he? I think Bob kinda' sells them short as instrument mics, though. Always talks about how good they are on vocals. An RE-15, for example, is so good on so many things other than just vox (Don't get me wrong -- Bob still rules). He and a few others really make gearslutz a good visit.

Bob Olhsson is an amazing guy, well worth having his own book. A staggering wealth of knowledge at his fingertips. His wife Ellen is a kick as well.

I think the 666 might be the official mic of Satan. :D

I was messing around with my RE15 the other day and tried it out on acoustic guitar. While lacking the detail of my condensers, it had a nice, rich sound. Because of the lack of proximity effect, I could put it up quite close without much boom, and it eliminated the sound of my room.

I'm thinking of recording a CD of songs with just a solo acoustic and vocals. It would be kind of fun to see if I could record it using only dynamic mics.

What are you doing VO for? TV, radio?

The reason I ask is I don't use any dynamics for anything but talkback. I have shitloads of 421's that are only used at director and producer desks for talkback. We do dialog recording, ADR, foley, etc. My mics that get used the most are Gefell MT71's, and Neuman U87's. The Gefells are by far the prefered choice. Granted our work is for film and television. Radio is a different beast and I am not sure if dynamics are still in favor.

Really it all depends on the application. You need to make sure your material will cut in well when it is aired.

Give us more info.
