i was wondering if they make good waulity mics that hook directly into the computer?and if so any good brands. If they don't what would be the best way to hook up mics into the computer? any help would be greatly appreciated

What would you be using this for?
What you plan to record with just one mic into your computer

i would use just for vocals, to add to a song in cakewalk.

Go with something like a Shure Sm-57, or an equally comparable Audix.

an SM-57 wont hook directly into the computer. You need a preamp, then you can use the line-level input on your soundcard. good luck.

they all have to run through a pre-amp..unless you get a soundcard with a built in pre-amp..but it sounds like you dont wanna spend that much money.

Yeah a preamp of some sort is most definately required. If you're on a budget try this:
