This is my first time posting here. I just started my own recording studio about two weeks ago in my storage shed in my backyard. I've got about $1,000 in recording gear and a $300 desktop computer. I'm very pleased with what I'm getting for the money and location. I recorded my first full band this weekend, I had been recording just some drums and guitar to get ready for my friends band. I worked up a mix last night and would appreciate some comments. The drummer insisted on triggering the kick, and the Bass was recorded with a D.I. Everything else is mic'ed instruments. Any advice on where to go from here would be appreciated. Thanks

It's difficult to tell on headphones, but the mix sounds a bit low end deficient.
I would probably bring up the bass and the kick just a tad. This genre is a bit off my radar but the band sounds pretty good, especially the drummer. Overall, I think this is pretty good. Welcome to the forum!

Thanks for the advice, I listened to it in my wifes car and the bass sounded nice and full, but in my truck and my stereo at work the bass just wasn't there. It's nice to have outside opinions. I think I'll have to eq just a tad in the kick because I don't want that clicky kick sound to get any louder.

Oh yeah, the guitarist got too drunk to record the solo and some little lead parts, so hes going to come back and record that this weekend.

Well, this isn't my type of music so.....

Although I'm not a fan of the guitar tone, it suits the music well....

Bass is a bit low on my headphones also.....

The drums sound really good - snappy snare and crispy cymbals......kik sounds ok to me...

The playing is excellent - pass my compliments on to the band. Are they using a click track? Is this one instrument at a time? Just curious......

I like the panning on the guitars and when they play "solo" it really stands out....

Vocals are buried right into the music - completely unintelligible but perfectly delivered and mixed.....

Good mix (maybe a bit more bass) - I'd be pretty happy with this........

:) :D :) :D
