Can't blame Zildjain for following a trend. Sabian has been doing this hacked up drilled out cymbal crap for years. Omar Hakim used a metal trash can lid as an effect cymbal when he worked with David Bowie. Nothing new here. Just more popular and more expensive. Broken cymbals used to be brought to the scrap yard (you can get decent money for scrap bronze) now schmucks pay for them. Go figure.
