This may seem a little gross but I think It should be addressed.
Other than Calling up the RotoRooter man.
How do you have your Audio Receivers Serviced
They protrude from the sides of your head and lead into your Brain.
I have a neighbor that has a set of ears that could
probably pick up a satelite transmission.
Maybe I should ask him.
Do any of you go have the doctor douche out your ears.

I have my audio receivers "douched" (such a colorful phrase) a couple of times a year. Some people need to have this done more often than others.

It is never a good idea to use "Q-Tips", bobbie pins or anything else to try to clean ears - it just compacts the crud even more.

I've been told by roadies and tour managers to NEVER clean the wax from your ears (unless it gets really bad) -- the wax acts like a natural protection against prolonged exposure to loud music.

I must use the same road crew that Rez8 uses. In addition to not cleaning out their ears to protect against loud music....they never clean thier genitals to protect against social disease.

When exposed to loud music your ears will actually produce more wax to protect the ear drum from dammage.......After doing a week or so of loud mixing especially with headphones my ears will produce a ball of wax that is so huge that the weight of it will cause it to actually fall out on it"s own without cleaning and be as big as a marble....yeah , it gross, but true....

:D

Well I have had a problem come up about three months ago.
I heard some popping and gurgling sounds in my right ear.
I use Ear Plugs and Ear Muffs together when Welding and Grinding
and using Chainsaws. I had been Grinding and Welding with protection on.
outside of tinitus in both ears I think I might have a blocked Eustatian
tube in my right ear.
Listen up my good freinds.
Tinitus builds up over several years.
Don't think you are unvinsable and high and mighty just because you
are under 30 or 40 years old.
Anyway the self diagnosed blocked Eustation tube makes the highs
muted and cuts your over all hearing about in half in that ear.
Because of tension on the ear drum.
This really sucks.
The causes are from what I have read are water in the middle ear
that can't eacape because there is a Flap somewhere in your sinus cavity
that is STUCK and usually opens and closed when you swallow.
Cures hat I have read range from taking Potassium Iodide to
Psuedoephedrine sinus medicine in pill and nostril spray form.
All the way to boiling water and breathing in the steam to break that flap loose.
There is also a popping sound when you swallow.
My Buffallo nickels worth>>>>>>>>

I sell equipment to the hearing aid industry so I have had a few opportunities to spend time with Audiologists. Across the board they say:

- No q-tips
- Wear noise protection when possible
- Wash ears with warm water while in shower

I would also recommend visiting the H.E.A.R. site at hearnet.com and the House Ear Institute site at hei.com. Both have resources to answer questions about hearing health especially as how it affects those of us involved in music.
