What's up good peoples? I've recently snagged myself a beautiful Tascam M312 mixer, she looks pristine, but as I'm diving in to test out all the connections I've come across a few scratchy ones. Does anyone out there have any tips, any do's or dont's about cleaning the connections on one of these mixers or for that matter, any other remedies to resolve some of the scratchiness? I've heard that deoxit spray is a suitable cleaning agent for old mixers and stuff...can I just spray in the holes or does this require removing the faceplate and hitting the guts?...anyways, ya'll get the idea...thanks in advance.

Often,...

you can just rotate the pot (or fader) vigorously through it's entire range of motion,... for about 3-5 minutes,... and much of the scratchiness will be cleaned up that way./DA

sweet! that definitely made a difference. Can I throw my next 312 problem on you? i'm not getting any thru signals on a couple channels...however, it "appears" to be getting the signal in, for when i punch the volume of the incoming signal on the outside source, I can see the OL light come on in those respective channels, but no matter where i try and route the signal - the busses or stereo out - i'm getting nothing. Is this a common minor problem or are these channels toast? is repair easy on these old lugs or not even worth it? any insight? - cool.
