I spilled some coffee on my PCR controller a while back...I cleaned it up and the keys are all working fine so are the buttons but some spilled into the fader area and now a few of them are acting up...surprise

Im going to take the top of and was wondering whats the best thing to clean up the contact areas??

For stuff like that I use QD Electronic Cleaner from CRC.

That stuff leaves no, zero, nada, residue. I'd tilt the keyboard and spray a lot on it and let it run off. You don't have to worry about using too much as it will vaporize in moments. Really flush it.

I've found QD at Ace and auto places. The only problem is that in this last year that stuff has gone from $2.75 to $7 a can... I'm not sure why.

QD is also great for cleaning small metal parts before painting them (makes the paint stick real well)and there's even crazies using it to make honey oil which I wouldn't if you want a normal life expectancy.

The best thing to leave electronics with a coating of is Deoxit D5 which does leave a thin layer of residue that is the ultimate conducting surface.

Deoxit is way better than QD for cable ends. QD is more of a cleaner/stripper.

Basically extracted marijuana trichomes, the crystals that are on pot buds. If you took a bud covered in crystals and put it in hexane (which is what QD is) the crystals will dissolve into the hexane. Then the hexane will vaporize off and you will be left with pure trichomes... theoretically. In reality you'll be left with trichomes + a bunch of chemicals that will kill you. It's a cousin to sniffing paint.

A related comedy note: one time 20 years ago I was talking to the repair department at Radio Shack here. They said that they had problems with pc boards in computers having salt type residue on them - that's a real problem here.

They said what they did, if you can believe this, is take the computer apart and tilt the pc board on an angle and hose it down with water and then leave it under heat lamps for a few days.

I thought that that was the worst advise I'd ever heard. Haven't you ever seen all the white crap around your sink? That's stuff that's in the water. Chemicals. I couldn't believe a "pro" repair place was doing that.

It really depends on whether it was regular or decaf. And if it was Starbuck's, well shit, you might as well just throw the equipment away - cuz otherwise, all your music will be bitter.

If it's Stabuck's forget it, the whole thing will be fused into a radioactive lump.

The only thing I like of Starbuck's is their Frappauccino ice coffee, which, for reasons unkown to mankind, they do not sell at any of the Starbuck's locations (here anyways).
