I think my old Tascam m216 need cleaning because some pots are a little bit noisy. Anybody have a few tips? Can I use a regular contact cleaning or a specific product? Is it worth the trouble to clean the pots or is it risky? Is it possible to completely wipe out the noise  ?
Thanks

I've had great results on my M-216 and M-208 using Radio Shack TV Tuner/Control Cleaner & Lubricant, believe it or not.

However, CAIG is definitely the best stuff and cheaper per ounce than Radio Shack products.

Try compressed air first-- sometimes that will do it without having to introduce any chemicals. Whatever you do don't use a solvent or orange-based stuff.

It's kind of a pain. You have to turn the unit upside down and take the bottom panel off. Then just spray a very small amount in the tiny opening on each pot.

If you're uneasy about spraying the internal parts, sometimes you can get away with removing the knob and just spritzing a little on the shaft where it goes down inside the housing. Put a rag around the area to keep the mess to a minimum, and you must crank the shaft back and forth several times to help work it in. This doesn't always work but sometimes, in a pinch you can save time.
