Listening as I write. This piece brings back good memories. I worked for a couple years with a guitar trio and we did a transcription of the Haydn London Trio in C as part of our repertoire. I know it well, believe me. These kids are playing it with great skill, giraffe. And the recording puts it across naturally and with a well balanced sonority. I'm listening on desktop speakers and may comment again after I hear it in the studio. I like it that you left it "as is" re page turning pauses and audience response, as that conveys a very realistic concert hall setting. Good job! Sh*t... the streaming audio just cut out for a second during the climax of the 3rd movement... there it is... OK, it's back. Man, I remember that 16th note long scale passage about 20 sec from the end... I always sweated that one... Well done giraffe!

one (and only one) bump in case any one else is intrested.

thankx!

giraffe...all I can say is that it sounds as if they are right in front of me.
Also, being a fan of classical, this was a treat.

keep in mind that the violin and flute players are both 17!
(allow them a couple slips) :)

I played cello for 6 years in junior high and high school so I know how bad we can really get. :) Nice job.

Great work Giraffe!!

So what mics did you use?
What was the room like?
How were the mic/mics placed?

Sounds good for a two mic recording.

Was this played in front of an audience, I guess with the applause at the end it was? It just suprised me with the clapping at the end.

Well played.

mc-o12
removed the front/center seat put the mics there, about head level in XY

room- out of 1-10......about an 8 church hall, new not old, treated ceiling
wood floors tons of glass though, but with lots of curtains to move as you please. as it was a public performance most of the glass was exposed to let the light in.

actually, i'm doing another recording there sunday, i'm gonna try spaced earthworks sro's for kicks i think.
they'll, i hope, treat the piano you guys never heard a little better...
reason i didn't do it last time was that it sounded unnaturally wide, and required ballsacks of gain (and so a little hissy). but the quality of the instruments was actually kinda better. choices, choices....

placement choices are limited by the audiance.

man oh man......
i just went to the rehearsal for the show tommorow and...
the girl playing harp is 24, cute, and tears the doors off of the thing
you don't often run into a good harp player (or a cute one). problem is, her dad is writeing the check for this recording gig.

um........
um.........

actually, i'm not totally sure she's single. maby her husband will show up and solve my little delemma.

Don't let that stop you.

The recording sounds really good. The musicians are probably excited about having a recording too, as they're 17. Great work.
