I have just started using cubase...Im actually trying out a friends old copy of sx2 since he has moved on to something newer. Anyway, I am having trouble choosing inputs. I have a Terratec EWS88/MT soundcard with 8 analog ins and outs. When I click on VST connections, I only see ins 1 and 2 listed. I click on add Buss and i choose to add a mono channel. Then when I try to assign it to input 3 on my soundcard, I only see ins 1 and 2 listed. my sound card is fine because it works normally in Adobe Audition. Is it a driver issue? Is there some kind of refresh in cubase????

Look under 'Device Setup' to make sure that all inputs and outputs are set to be visible in the VST Connections menu. Inputs and outputs can be set to be visible/invisible in 'Device Setup'.

Right!!! Devices Setup>VST Inputs/VST Outputs. Also check VST Multitrack, and look to see what driver is selected. Often Cubase will pick the wrong driver. Remember Cubase will put "ASIO", in front of any generic driver profile it reports as available, So it is possible that you are using something like an "ASIO DirectX Driver", which may only report the first 2 ins and outs of your soundcard to Cubase. Generally the cards driver's will start with the card name and end with ASIO in the name. Just a thought.

thanks guys....it was the driver thing....I looked at VST inputs and VST outputs and there were only 2 options listed...I looked at VST driver and once I switched it to the correct driver, I looked back at the inputs menu and all my ins were listed....

thanks
Jeremy
