Do it right or dont do it
Could you help me to choose a FireWire HD? My idea is to have a dedicated audio HD but I can only spend about 200 bucks on it so any help will be apreciated. My setting is:

iMac Intel Core Duo 2GHz
250Gb HD, partitioned in 4
1.5 RAM installed
Two Firewire 400 ports available

I'm working with:
ProTools LE 7.1.1
Digidesign MBox 2

Thanks in advance!

Por Tools recommend to use an external device. In the other hand I cannot put an internal disk in my iMac... it simply doesn't have space inside, hahaha

i use seagate firewire drives. great product, and they have a freakin 5 year warranty. which i have taken advantage of only once. they replaced a failed drive after i had been using it for 2 years. if that wasnt enough, i got money back for the difference of the price drop over 2 years.

I use Seagate, Western Digital, Maxtor, and I also have a Hitachi drive. They all seem to be working fine.

My main comment would be don't buy anything under 250 gigs, and 300 or up would be better. You can always use the extra storage space. A 160 gig drive is going to get filled up very fast.

My other comment would be to buy an identical drive to the first and use it for backup. Of course, there goes your budget, but backup is crucial.
