Choosing a sampler

I am in the market for a sampler now. I have a really short list of what I actually need in a sampler. I'm hoping to find a used one on the cheap since I don't need alot of bells and whistles.

I need this:
ability to read .wav files
3.5 diskette, or cd rom, or usb to get samples from a PC
prefer rackmount

that's it. The only thing I'm going to use this for is for live drum samples. I have 2 drum kits that I use in 2 different studios that I am going to record samples of each part. I just want to be able to have the sounds in a sampler so I can trigger them and have the same sounds in my studio at home. I think this is pretty simple. I don't need to edit, or do anything fancy, just play back my samples I make myself.

I use a Kurzweil K2600 alot at one of the studios and it does all I want, but I don't need all its functions, and I'd like something as cheap as possible. ...of course:) An older unit would be just fine for me, as long as it does what I want.

Maybe a Yamaha A5000? I've seen a couple pretty cheap. I dunno if it will do wav but maybe I can do a conversion or something? I dont know, this is a new thing for me.

yes it loads waves files, but if you have to load them from the floppy it takes a loooong time... (I've an A4000...)
you can load samples via SCSI otherwise, from the pc or from an external scsi cdrom.

however IMHO the yammy is a bit too much for wath you need.
if I were in you I'll take a look in some of the new groove sample box from roland and boss. they are cheap, they have usually usb and they can do all the things that you want.

Akai S5000. They go pretty cheap on eBay, just wait for one that has the USB card installed. You can load it up to 256 megs of RAM if you need, or anything less than that as well. Sometimes people sell the S5000 with a CDR burner as part of the package, but if not you can always locate the CDR seperately.

I have 12 of these, and they are a great sampler.
