i would like some constructive criticism on these songs........ as far as the recording techniques and the actual song content
 
Swing 2000 sounds like an old dead milkmen song. I kept expecting to hear like a funny rambling story over the groove. "what are you gonna do down there?" "oh, i don't know... play some video games, buy some def leppard t-shirts..."
And mixwise in zebra, maybe some compression on vox. I think i use it too much, though. So uh, dont listen to anything i say.
 
Thanks for the suggestion......can i get the name of the dead milkmen song? Also i don't exactly have a compressor.......... all those recordings are done on a yamaha mt120(four track analog) with no effects box or anything

Yeah, its called Bitchin' Camaro... I think you'd like the DM.. pick up Death Rides a Pale Cow, a best-of they released last year. If youve heard the song, "punk rock girl", That's the Dead Milkmen.
 
yeah i have heard of the dead milkmen, just never that song....... i'll check it out though
 
On zebra and swing, I would have liked to hear some stereo sound...left and right plain and simple.....bass needs to come up in zebra (the best song in my opinion)...drummer sounds good so does the guitarist and vocal good too, but like vagueLee said, something needed on it....I dug the surf licks in zebra, quite unexpected....on an instrumental like swing 2000, timing is everything, and I didn't really feel like the band was together on that one....but zebra was cool....gibs
 
Guys a few notes on those tracks..... they are my first experience mixing to digital. The reason we sound a bit off is cause we only have two people..... we will be rerecording in a few days with a drummer. I will be sure to post that stuff when i get it

Listened to Zebra it has a good groove -- the guitar lick from Wipe out add something different -- experiment with the mix -- you'll get it :)
 
thanx all for the feedbakc, we recently did a complete rerecord of the zebra song, i will post it soon
 
2lim, I just listened to Zebra. Did you do the remix on that yet? (6.29.2000 @ 12:25AM EST).

If you haven't remixed it yet, I have to agree with vagueLee on using the compression on the vox... try it... From what I heard when I listened just now, the vox levels are up and down and some of your vocals are faded to far into the mix. But I dig the song a lot... Let me know.
 
Ted thanx for the input and the email, i will put compression on the vocals........................ as soon as i get a compressor. We have rerecorded zebra with a whole band, and i wil repost it within a week , thanx, 2lim
