That's definitely tempting. I knew I should have gone to bed. Buy two, sell one....
 
Damn...Im tryin to save my money to buy a really nice mic and pre....Im almost at $500 now...This is very tempting.....someone please tell me how much this mic sucks!!!

Exactly what I was going to say. And Cascade is one of those companies where customer service actually exists.

I went for it. No Shipping. I liked the Fat Head review in Tape Op. I'll let you know if it's useable at all with either my firepod or vlz pro, but I figure I'll need another preamp... I didn't tell my wife that part.
 
I was thinking about it, but for some reason the brand name NADY always worries me. :eek: (Sorta like the name Behringer on certain products) :D

Wow. I musta gotten one of the last ones before it sold out. I was on the fence for hours, but finally convinced the wife by bringing out the piggy bank. Literally. Rolled quarters to the bank tomorrow!

That Nady is a rebranded chinese mic, same as the Cascade Fat Head. The Fat Head got great reviews, so I'm allabout it.

Problem is, I won't really be able to test it as I don't think my pres have enough gain.

Hope it's not a lemon... some of them are. Oh well, it was a fun purchase to make. :p

You were a little late... Like 12 hours or something. It didn't sell out that fast from what I saw. I didn't buy though, I have enough mics (for now, for now, settle down).

I've never done it, but couldn't you just daisy-chain a couple pre's to get the gain you need? It wouldn't hurt for testing, at least.

Edit: On second thought, I have done this: hooked a mic up to a preamp then ran the output into a mixer (which had it's own preamp). Worked fine, had way too much gain ;).
 
That power amp looks like a pretty good price compared to what the average going price is. It's still a little pricey if you're not going to resell it later. I already have a power amp, and If I was going to buy another, it would just be a cheap one to use for live monitors (I'll probably just buy a powered mixer, tho). Another pass I think.
 
Arent there enough used squires around that they can just stop making these for like 5 years?

I think there is an impedance situation, too. I'll definitely try everything. It might work just fine right off the bat, though. Firepod's manual says that it should be fine w/ribbons.
