If you get this model, set it on fx 27 and adjust your mixer send level to taste. That's what I use for vocals. I don't know about the older model (1000).

I still vote for the Alesis Wedge. I have a pile of them, they are extremely adjustable, have nice sounding reverb patches as starting points, and best of all...you see them all the time on Ebay for $70 or less. Sure, a wall wart, but so what. Oh...you can't rack them either, but they aren't that big to take up much space.
