Made Man 4 Life
im helpin out a friend whos trying to run a public access show. he knows i wont be helping him out for ever, but i told him i would help him as much as i could.

he needs a sampler, or a keyboard, basically something where i can load in sounds, and when needed, hit the button sound effect plays and he can carry on with his show. basically something where he could put in a crowd cheerin, applausing, a laugh track, even the sound of crickets.

i figured a lil something we could just plug the outputs into the soundcraft mix board, and use accordingly. something cheap would work.

i know hes not exactly a radio station but its still what he wants. n e ideas for what would fit this situation the best?

thank u for your time.

If you're looking for a new hardware sampler, plan to spend at least $250-$300 for one. If used is OK, see what FleaBay has. If you or your friend already have a laptop with audio capabilities (software and hardware), it might be the most flexible and least expensive way to go for capturing and triggering samples.

yea i wa slooking for something used, just under $250. but i still read up on my equipment before i buy any thing. so i was wondering if n e one had a somple one in mind.

but yea basically i was thinkin something just real basic, to load/capture samples and triggering them when needed.

i dont know if he has a laptop, what prgrams would u suggest for that?

Something like a Boss Dr. Sample SP-202 or SP-303 would be a quick and dirty way of triggering sound cues in your price range.

The really *nice* way of doing those kind of sound cues is the 360 Systems Instant Replay, but that's far above your budget of $250. Super nice though, I tour with a show that uses an Instant Replay and it works great.

I've also used a Dr. Sample on a show, so you might want to take a look at it and see if it suits your needs.

As far as using a laptop, I think Kontakt would certainly be able to do what you need, although you'd probably want to trigger the sounds with a keyboard.

a key pad or something is basically what im lookin for. I've started looking into one of the products by Boss, so i might actually roll with that. just needed to see if i was overlooking anythang else. I appreciate the time and help.

if there's n e more idea, my ears are still open... i guess in this case it would be my eyes.

You can find Korg Electribe ES-1s for around that or less on Ebay. I have one. I like it. It'll also do way more than what you're describing.
