hey, I did these 2 songs awhile back, before I had any idea about recording, but, I think they sounded alright. Please check them out.
There was no technique in terms of using any gears, just a mic that came with my PC and a guitar+Zoom 505 "straight" into my soundcard, which came with the PC as well. Mixed with my PC speakers with the bass ALL THE WAY UP, ha. Oh, and a drum loop I found online.
first song is "Enter the Subconciousness"
Second song, " Steven's Lovesong"

Any feeback would be great, I am happy that I finally got my stuff online.

ps, the hi fi verson sounds so much better

ERR..the link is.... nowhereradio.com/a1a2 but, I don't know why my songs aren't on that page. Just go to nowhereradio.com, my songs should be in the "new songs" section, and my name "A1A2" should be in the new artist section. Sorry about this

WALDO! haha, you are great. Thanks for all those help from emails and here. Thanks you so much.

Just had a listen, got to say, pretty damn good for what you were working with!

Would love to hear more, just mellow enough to calm me down when I was discussing business with another hot-head dot-commer....

W.

Alright, it's confirmed. You are a Floyd head.

That's some pretty good stuff. I think I'd like the first tune better if it had real drums, but other than that, it's some pretty fine musicianship and awfully creative.

I understand now why you want the Gilmour vocal sound. :) Have you thought about more of a "Genesis" sound? If you've never listened to "Super's Ready" or anything off of "Trick of the Tail," then I'm afraid you're missing out. :) A Gilmour-esque lyric would blend nicely with the style of music, but it may just blend a little too nicely, if you know what I mean.

I could hear Peter Gabriel or Phil Collins cutting right through that kind of mix like a hot knife through butter. :)

thanks for the positive inouts, guys. This is the first time I ever share my stuff with people that I don't actually know, so, it's great to know that people actually like them.
Waldo, you are such a big brother of the home-grown musicians. Good work.
ChessRock, what's the Genesis sound? and I have no idea who those artists or song titles are....it would be great if you tell me the artists' and the tracks' names, so I can download them or somehting. I am always looking for more musical inputs. Anyways, yeah, I am a huge fan of Floyd. Almost too Floydish that I often try to pull myself from their style when writting songs.
Oh, you might catch that the guitars are sometime off beat or not bent to the right pitch. There was a sad reason for these mistakes, which is.....I couldn't hear myself playing while dubbing new tracks on top of the other. I had to turn the headphones real quiet, so I could hear the elec guitar(no amp) and stuff coming out of headphones at once. It was SAD.
Thank you, guys

The band is Genesis. Personally, my favorite of theirs is "Supper's Ready," but there's lots of good ones. The entire album, "The Lamb lies down on Broadway" is a classic. Based on the kind of music you write, I would guess you could really get in to these guys. And no, I'm not talking about the cheezy 80's stuff with Phil Collins. :)

gotta keep the post up

yeah, chessrock, I will check them out

The original Genesis, with Peter Gabriel -- what an fantastic, interesting band! The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway was the last one before Gabriel left to go on to record a stack of excellent, rather unusual solo records, until he became a huge star many years later with the album that included "Sledgehammer" (it's confusing, because the title of almost all of his solo albums weas the same -- just Peter Gabriel). Phil Collins, originally the drummer in Genesis (and in the instrumental fusion group Brand X) stepped in as the singer, and he had a voice that was sonically very close to Gabriel's. With Collins in front Genesis went on to huge popular acclaim, as did Collins as a consequence.

aounds like a hell of a band/mucis. I will definitely have to check them out.

See A1A2, I told you there was a lot of Floyd fans here. Good one dude.

nice tremolo guitar...the drums are a little wacky...but effective, I suppose. you got the slapbacks in time nicely. considering your proclaimed setup, VERY NICE. take away the drums,...you're "MR ambient man" ...some unusual textures, that trying to decide what instruments they are is difficult. ...almost like some ahhs...going on with strings...or at least an attempt. what keyboard is it?...a keyboard..right? a tad reverby on the lead gtr. at 3:20 or so... interesting stuff.

lovesong....nice and peaceful .... i like sound effects with music...my mp3 player shows 23:07 total time...is that right??...scrolling thru...nice stuff...but something this long, I need a bed....zzzzz i like it!!

which keyboard?

haha, Mixmkr
I think I have achieved my goal of fooling people that was an actual keyboard. To tell you the turth, it was a kid's software called, Melody Assistant. I am not a good notation reader nor writer, so, it took me like 10 hours straight to write the piano/string/vox parts in that song.
About the trmolo s guitar sound, it was all done by SF. Like I said, I ran my guitar straight into my pathetic soundcard(except for the guitar solo, which I used Zoom 101 for distortaion)
Some of the weird sound effects were simplely done by reversing guitar chords, adding some reverb, and little stuff like that. Oh, about the long Lovesong, I think I made a mistake when I burn it onto my baclup Cd or something. it wasn't meant to last that long. But, hey, what's wrong with long songs? I love long songs that Floyd and Phish do.
Anyways, thanks for your feebacks. Really appreciate them :)

Ohoh, I just uploaded a couple more songs, a little different taste, please check them ou as well, guys

If yo are interested, you should listen to those songs in order. There is kinda "theme"/ story going on
