Hey, I just purchased an Audio Technica 1220 mixer used off of ebay, everything works on it but it has a extremely low output. Is there anyway I can boost the output without getting distortion Im on a very very cheap budget and The seller suggested a Pre Amp does anyone know any that are cheap and good that would work?

thanks

M-Audio (Midiman) Audio Buddy. Two channel solid state, very quiet with plenty of gain.www.americanmusical.com sells it for $79 but I have seen posted that somewhere sells them for $69.Maybe someone will post a link to that store(whatever it was).

alright, thanks.

One more question. I'm not fimiliar with pre amps like this. Is this like a guitar pedal, you plug the mic into the preamp and the pre amp into the mixer's channel?

thanks,
Will

I'm not familiar with that particular mixer but something doesn't sound right. Unless it's just a line level mixer, it should have on board mic pre's and its output should be sufficiant to feed a recorder or a PA.

I know its not a midi or dj mixer. My other mixer, a Mx602A or something like that the cheapest berhinger mixer has a high output. do you think that I could mix the signals on the audio technica and send the output of that mixer to a berhinger mixer to get a higher output? kind of like a post amp.

Hate to say this, but your new (used) mixer sound like it might be buggered. Mayde you should have a tech look at it.
